Getting married?

Finding a venue is an important part of planning for a wedding, but choosing your local church means so much more than just getting married in an historic building.

Weddings in the Church of England are an opportunity to make a commitment to your partner in the presence of your friends and family and before God. You will also have the support and guidance of the church minister as you prepare for your big day.

Marriage Preparations

As part of our commitment to strengthening marriages, the Five Alive Mission Community offers a ‘marriage preparation’ session. This gives practical help and encouragement to couples who are planning to be married and is a great opportunity to spend time talking with your partner about your life and relationship. Sessions are usually arranged so that you don’t have to discuss things with anyone other than your partner if you don’t want to.

Getting married in church

If you are interested in getting married in one of our churches, please fill in the form located under the next tab. Once we have received this we will be in touch: we know that churches and ministers can get booked up well in advance, so we will want to make sure - and reassure - that the date is available as soon as possible.

You are entitled to marry in your Parish Church or one which you attend regularly.  You may also get married in another church which you - or your family - have strong connections with.

There are fees that are payable for Church of England weddings.  These will be outlined to you as soon as we have your enquiry.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch via the admin email.
